Some high tech vandalism took place in LA last week, with Skullphone getting his/her/its logo on 10 massive digital billboards.
I applaud any and all attempts at fucking with Clear Channel. Nicely done.

I woke up this morning with a thought, emailed it to a guy, and a few hours later the email is reprinted on Espn.com. Neat!

I just posted a new chart, mostly older records that I’ve been able to find while digging here in the Old World. Although, I’m also starting to get into legit mp3 downloads in a big way too. The 21st Century has new and exciting ways of taking my money!

…since there’s so much online already, but I came across a speech he gave at a church, and it became clear to me that this man really needs to be president.
I spent 5 years in the US, a few of which I spent enrolled in an incredibly relgious private school. The experience did not convert me, but gave me an appreciation for how that section of society lived, which I would have otherwise not really seen. Much has been made of the role religion plays in US politics, and as a Canadian, I am still struck by the way it can dominate the political discourse. But in Canada, though secularism is much more common, the conflicts are often similar.
Please watch from at least the 6:30 mark, to about the 22:00 mark, as Obama lays out his beliefs about politics and religion, and gives advice to progressives seeking to bring about change in the US (and, as I would like to suggest, Canada).
“In fact, because I do not believe that religious people have a monopoly on morality, I would rather have someone who is grounded in morality and ethics, and who is also secular, affirm their morality, and their ethics, and their values, without pretending that they’re something they’re not. They don’t need to do that. None of us need to do that.” This was met with sustained applause- in a church.

Ooof…now recovered from a brief-but-nasty bout of the flu, which left me with nothing to do but lie in bed and read political bloggers expound on Hillary Clinton (personally, I think she’s throwing her party under the bus, and I hope the superdelegates remember this week at a later point).
Actually, I did manage to come across a handful of other interesting things in my bored/queasy state, some of which are cited here:

If you didn’t know, Sparkasse is the largest chain of banks in Berlin, with the ubiquitous red “S” acting as a beacon to its all-night ATM lobbies.
Enter Reclaim The Sparkasse, a group of kids that likes to throw parties where people usually just withdraw money. I love shit like this. Unfortunately I missed the latest party this weekend. You can check out more videos and info at their Myspace.

Over at the Huffington Post there’s a lengthy interview with legendary comedian George Carlin. He talks about his own career, politics, being an artist vs. an entertainer, using the media, and why he doesn’t feel like part of the human race.
Really interesting read.

One of my favourite blog sites to visit is Honeyee, which publishes a web magazine as well as gathering a diverse set of blog contributors together. A lot of it is in Japanese, but there are English-language blogs from influential musicians (Eric Clapton, John Mayer) artists (Kaws) and fashion label/design types (Jeff Staple, Keith Hufnagel).
Great visual interface too, with contributors colour-coded according to recent activity.

Discobelle put up a stream of the Paper Planes remix EP, which is just stacked…
Blaqstarr and Diplo put new vocals over the beat- Bun B (!!!), Rich Boy, Rye Rye, and Afrikan Boy all put a verse down. The DFA remix is a pretty slick disco interpretation, and there’s the obligatory Baltimore mix from Scottie Boy. The sleeper on this one is the Adrock remix, which gives it kind of a sinister dub feel.
The entire EP playlist is available here.

Back up your hard drives, kids.
My laptop just decided to shuffle off this mortal coil, taking all my music, photos, and important documents along for the ride. Damn. The 4 months of travel pics and the purchased Beatport downloads sting the most. I had Windows reinstalled, but now it’s in German. Wunderbar.
On the bright side, I got accepted to law school in Canada, so it looks like I will get the priviledge of a Canadian winter once again.
Oh, and this video is face-meltingly awesome.
