I think this label gets my vote for “Most Likely To Fucking Explode in 2008″…a la Ed Banger. Why?
Well, I started to get it on a rainy night in Vancouver, when I caught the tour rolling through Celebrities (Catchdubs’ tour blog) and was amazed how well a turntablist from Quebec, a female rapper from Chicago, and a couple French electro DJ/producers could headline a show and pull off one of the best nights of “club music” I’d heard in a long time. Obviously they don’t take labels like that seriously- what I heard made it clear that the #1 priority is party music, not riding a wave of a particular hipster crowd. Everyone on the roster is talented, and they work regularly with guys like Kanye West and Justice. Sounds like a recipe for success.
Kid Cudi’s latest EP is available on 12″ and digitally at TurntableLab. The Jokers of the Scene remix is ridiculous.
Also, the next installment of the tour with A-Trak, Sinden, Steve Aoki, and Sammy Bananas will be rolling through Canada in April. Not to be missed.
